Grad BarThe GSA Grad Bar

The Grad Bar is located upstairs in Union House. The bar provides a social venue with a more mature atmosphere, where graduates can relax and socialise with fellow postgraduates. Profits from the bar are used to fund the GSA activities including the conference fund.

The Grad Bar underwent extensive refurbishment in Summer 2003, which ensures that any time you spend in the bar will be as comfortable as possible, whether you come here to meet friends at lunchtimes, to unwind in the evenings, or to spend time between lectures in the afternoon.

The Grad Bar is fully licensed and sells a competitively priced range of alcoholic beverages (including guest real ales) as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee. Daily newspapers are provided for you to read in the Bar.

poolWe do not serve food, other than bar snacks, but you are welcome to bring your own food in to eat in the bar. We do, however, ask that you do not bring drinks in from outside. A wide range of take-away menus are available behind the bar.

The Bar has Sky TV, a juke box, pool table, table football, darts board, and holds a range of board games. The Grad Bar runs frequent entertainment events.

Day to day running of The Grad Bar is in the hands of a full time manager, and the bar staff are all postgraduate students. Overall responsibility for the running of the bar lies with the Bar Standing Committee, a sub-committee of the GSA Executive chaired by the GSA Treasurer. We have a managment agreement with the Union of UEA Students, which ensures full compliance with all statutory requirements and maintenance of proper financial management. It also allows us to take advantage of NUS purchasing arrangements.

The Grad Bar is an over 21s facility. You may be asked to provide proof of age.
